October 4th is the Feast of St. Petronius,

and it’s the perfect excuse to combine a little history with a lot of pasta! St. Petronius, the 5th-century bishop and patron saint of Bologna, rolled up his sleeves and got to work rebuilding Bologna, both physically and spiritually after the Roman collapse. He helped restore not only the city’s infrastructure but also its faith, leaving a lasting legacy in the form of the majestic Basilica di San Petronio.

We can’t celebrate a day dedicated to Bologna without paying homage to its most beloved culinary creation: Tagliatelle con Ragú alla Bolognese! You know the drill: rich, savory meat sauce slow-cooked to perfection, ladled generously over ribbons of fresh pasta. It’s the kind of meal that makes you want to hug your plate. Sharing this dish with friends and family is the ultimate way to honor both St. Petronius and Bologna’s deep-rooted love for good food and good company – and we know someplace that makes this dish according to tradition.  We’ll be here to celebrate with you!

So, on October 4th, gather your loved ones, twirl some tagliatelle on your fork, and raise a toast to St. Petronius—the man who helped make Bologna what it is today. Whether you’re a history buff or just here for the pasta, it’s a day worth celebrating. After all, faith and tagliatelle are a winning combination, right? Buon appetito, and happy St. Petronius Day!
